A spokesman for the Australian Council of Deans of Education said later the discussionpaper highlighted the desperate need for a vision in indigenous education.
"In many areas of education, the plight of indigenous students has undoubtedly worsenedover the past six years," the spokesman said.
"ACDE argues that all political parties need a holistic plan for education in whichindigenous education is not considered merely as a separate item on the education checklist."
